2025 Season Info
We are currently in the process of making arrangements for the 2025 RaZors 7v7 season. This will be our 5th year of our club teams participating in the growing 7v7 scene in Iowa. Details will continue to evolve as the season draws closer, but below is what you can expect for the teams this spring & summer.
Age Groups & Roster Sizes
The RaZors will field teams in the 10u, 12u, and 14u age divisions. We will field up to 2 teams at each age group; 24 roster spots maximum.
Team Makeup
We are an open registration, mixed-community club. This means there are no tryouts and our teams are open to anyone from anywhere. We are based in the Iowa City area but routinely draw participants from the surrounding area up to an hour away. Despite the fact that we don't focus solely on recruiting top talent prioritized on winning, we attract plenty of skilled and committed players to field teams that are competitive across the 7v7 landscape. We will prioritize development (practice) and team bonding. When those are present, the results are favorable and everyone wins regardless of the scores.
Coaching
With the RaZors club, you can typically expect a top layer of objective, non-parent coaches to lead these teams and be invested in the development of every player. These coaches are adept at implementing our systems and have the most influence with decisions based on playing time, key positions, and other strategic considerations. That being said, we do also rely on some parent coaching as well. This is necessary to be efficient at practice and to cover multiple teams playing at the same time in tournaments. These parents are quasi-volunteers; there are some benefits available for parent coaches and they are expected to be present for the large majority of team events, not just 'when I can be there.' Preference will be given to those previously involved with the program and/or other 7v7 and football coaching.
Prospective Tournament Schedule
* We will not participate in all events listed below, but these are the ones under consideration. Our aim is 7 tournaments for each team. They will be solidified as we get closer to the season and have a better understanding of player availability.

April 19 • RedZone Rumble • Iowa City
May 3-4 • Back 2 Ballin' • Cedar Falls
May 17-18 • Midwest Championships • Des Moines
May 31 • Metro Madness • Cedar Rapids
June 14 • Battle in the Valley • Waterloo
June 21 • River City Classic • Clinton
June 28 • Mississippi Mayhem • Davenport
July 5 • Under The Lights • Cedar Rapids
July 19-20 • State Tournament • Iowa City
Enrollment & Costs
To begin the enrollment process, complete the club application linked below. The application is free to fill out and does not signify a hard commitment to join the club. All players are welcome to join the club regardless of their playing experience or ability, so long as they're able to join for a large number of practices and events. We will update in late January to survey for practice & event availability and again in mid February to seek firm commitments and a payment installment at that time.
Cost will range between $600-$750 depending on whether its a new or returning player, uniform needs and which tournaments we end up entering. The fee may be broken up into 2 installments. These fees cover tournament entry fees, practice rental fees, uniform & soft shell helmet, coaches payments, team equipment, and other miscellaneous expenses covered by the club.
There is no longer be a base club fee plus a 'per tournament' fee. All participants are expected to join us for all or most (we understand there may be a conflict or two) events. A discount will be provided for families with multiple players in the program and for coaches players.
Practice
Practice will occur within the Iowa City area. It will occur regularly once per week with a second practice likely during the weeks of tournaments. Each age group will practice at a different time and potentially different location depending on team makeup and player availability. Practice will begin in the early half of March.
